DairySight LLC Investors FAQ

First a bit of history

DairySight LLC was formed by Jim Ehrlich, D.V.M, one of the founding partners of Dairy Veterinarians Group, in Argyle, NY (est. 1983). Dr. Ehrlich has had a strong interest in dairy records systems since the early days of microcomputers, and in 1997 received funding under USDA's SBIR program, for a project titled "Intelligent Reports for Dairy Herd Management, Built to Order on the Internet". Successful completion of Phase I was followed by a Phase II grant for 1998-2001. Now Phase III, commercial development under private funding, is underway, as DairySight LLC.

What does DairySight LLC have for facilities?

We are operating from office space in the highly successful business incubator operated by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in Troy, New York. This has been a very good way to get access to motivated students with technical and business skills, as well as the entire RPI faculty, and very productive development environment.

What Intellectual Property have you developed?

A patent application is underway for a powerful analysis tool for dairy herds, which we believe has considerable commercial potential, and will be particularly useful in Internet-based reporting. We have developed numerous report designs, and developed considerable expertise in Internet applications. We have worked diligently at attaining a position of trust within the dairy industry, from data suppliers to end users.

What do you see as the most important risks you face?

Since the dotcom bubble burst, finding investment capital has become difficult. While this has had the welcome effect of wiping out our flakier competitors, it does leave us spread thin. Possibly this is an advantage in disguise, as we have had ample time to focus on design. Risks are discussed further in our business plan.

Do you have a business plan?

Yes.  It is available to potential investors, after signing of a nondisclosure agreement. Contact DairySight President: Jim Ehrlich, D.V.M. For more information. Click here for our online Business Plan Summary.
